Choosing the perfect makeup look for your wedding day can be a bit overwhelming with so much choice floating around the internet, but it's also a lot of fun! With so many trends and products to choose from, it can be hard to know where to start. That's why I'm here to help you with a guide to seasonal makeup for your wedding day to help you with the decoding process.
First things first, When choosing a makeup look for your wedding, the most important thing is to consider what suits you best. What are your skin tones, eye colour, and hair colour? What kind of style do you have? Once you know what looks good on you, you can then start incorporating seasonal themes and colour schemes to create a unique and beautiful look. I'd like to think you haven't chosen a colour scheme for your wedding that doesn't suit you.
Spring Weddings: Fresh and Floral
Spring is all about new beginnings, and your makeup should reflect that. For your theme, Think soft, natural looks with a dewy foundation, peony blush, and a neutral eyeshadow palette. Pastel hues like blush pink, lavender, and mint green are perfect for a fresh and feminine vibe. So how do we create a spring inspired makeup look?
Embrace a spring-inspired glow with light, dewy skin that showcases your freckles. Fluffy, feathery brows enhance the natural beauty of your face. Peach and pink tones create a harmonious palette. A glossy lip complements the dewy finish, while a subtle shimmer in the eyes captures the sunlight. Wispy, natural lashes add impact. For eyeliner, consider a soft brown or plum to maintain the spring theme's gentle aesthetic
Summer Weddings: Radiant and Sun-Kissed
Summer is the perfect time to embrace a radiant and sun-kissed look. With summer being the most popular time of year to get married, the best thing about summer is the themes and colour schemes are endless. From classy garden party to Ibiza vibes or bohemian glamour you'll never be stuck for choice. Colour schemes can vary depending on your scheme but if your stuck simply research what's trending in the wedding industry. Last year (2023 ) and this year we saw lots of white, black, eucalyptus greens and champagnes. So how can your makeup scream summer vibes?
Summer is all about those summer nights aesthetics. You know! Those sun kissed holiday vibes! First things first, that tan is key, I'm sorry but it is! if you want to look NATURALLY sun kissed, Bronzy tones tend to be more orange based so if you are fair toned it wont look as natural against your porcelain skin as it would if you had a tan. Using a glowy bronzer like the Dior backstage glow to create a healthy 'fresh off the beach' radiance. Warm bronzy tones are for the win with golden metallic hues for the pop! For Lashes we need for a Tubing mascara to withstand the heat and prevent any transfer that could occur and of course a fluttery set of lashes. Bold, vibrant lipsticks in shades like coral, fuchsia, or red are a great way to make a statement. But this is still bridal and most brides love to opt for a natural nude so lets elevate that nude lip with a shimmery gloss that glistens in the summer sun.
Autumn Weddings: Warm and Cosy
Autumn evokes feelings of warmth and cosiness, and your makeup should reflect that. This is my favourite time of year! I got married in autumn, where the days are chilly but the sun is still out, Everywhere is covered in orangey red hues, candles are lit and its just cosy. Choose colours that complement the season's hues, such as deep reds, rusts, browns, golds, deep greens and royal blues. Things are getting darker now, the sun sets earlier, candlelit reception dinners are creeping in and this is how we can match your makeup to your autumn aesthetic!
As the evenings grow darker, many women opt for bolder makeup to stand out in low-light environments. This autumnal trend allows for smokier eyes, deeper shades like brown, auburn, and mauve, and dramatic eyeliner. A black cat eye or smoky wing, paired with fluffy lashes, creates a sultry look. For a touch of glamour, add a pop of glittery champagne shimmer. To maintain a sophisticated and timeless appearance, choose a matte foundation and lipstick. Shades like deep browns, mauves, reds and berry tones are perfect for autumn.
Winter Weddings: Glamorous and Festive
Winter is the season for glitz and glamour, so embrace the glitter golds and reds! To me, winter screams elegance and sophistication, its bottles of champagne and slinky glittery little numbers. Winter colour schemes can be cool icy tones like pale blue and icy whites and deep tones like deep reds and emerald greens. When i think of Christmas i personally always think of the iconic look that oozes femininity and sophistication:
Its giving Glam! Its giving glitz and its giving sophistication! This iconic hollywood red carpet look will never go out of fashion. Its dramatic while still keeping a regal allure on the eyes. A bold clean thin eyeliner, and a shimmery highlighter. Rich and luxurious colours like a deep red or plum are perfect for a festive vibe. And to add a touch of winter magic, using a frosted eyeshadow or highlighter.
Choosing the Perfect Look for You
Of course you don't have to wear a summer look in summer and a deep autumn makeup in October, Its your day, you make the rules but remember, when choosing inspo the first thing you should think about is your style and your comfort levels. If your a non makeup wearer, a deep bold look may just be a little out of your comfort zone.
But have fun experimenting with different makeup looks and if you can, its a good thing stepping outside of your comfort zone. Discuss your ideas with your makeup artist, expressing any concerns you have and with a little creativity and planning, you're sure to find the perfect makeup look for your wedding day.
